Rising senior Ray-Ray Armstrong, coming off a junior season where he was suspended twice, has been dismissed from the Miami Hurricanes football program.
The school announced the dismissal Wednesday morning, nearly two weeks before the start of training camp.
Armstrong had a stellar sophomore campaign with 78 tackles and three interceptions en route to being named second-team All-ACC. But his junior season was cut short by four games for his involvement in the Nevin Schapiro scandal last summer. In seven games, he recorded only 34 tackles and one interception.
Despite his less-than-impressive junior year, Armstrong was named last week to the Bednarik Watch List, which is the award given to the nation’s top defensive player.
